Weird and wonderful updates from the intriguing Alma Haser

Date
25 September 2014

Entering Alma Haser’s portfolio is very much like going down the proverbial rabbit hole. The young London-based photographer was recently named in the D&AD New Photographers Ones To watch, the latest accolade in a career that’s going from strength to strength.

I love that Alma’s work seems to toy with the viewer and I am never quite sure where I stand; much like Alice in Wonderland I don’t quite know who or what is on my side. It’s innovative, it’s interesting and at times it’s joyously weird. She has a few new projects on her site since I last checked in but these two really caught my eye. The Invitation Of Life presents us with bearded blokes shrouded in bridal veils, while Puzzled Faces is an oddly sinister twist on the humble jigsaw.

There’s also a good series on flowers grown in electric farms and her newest work Twins to enjoy. So take that Drink Me potion and let’s go lose ourselves for a while…
