Graphic design: Marcus Holland's prints are brilliantly bright and simple

Date
5 July 2013

Melbourne-based graphic designer Marcus Hollands tends to focus predominantly on brand identity, publication design and typography, which might go some way to explaining why this collection of suspiciously arty looking paintings is called Shaking the Shackles. His clean, colourful style translates perfectly to paint, though; sharp lines remain uncompromised by his decision to use enamel paint on plywood, enabling him to nudge the boundaries which separate designing on a computer and crafting by hand. We’d urge him to do some more of the latter, if only so that we can admire his work + he merges the two disciplines so perfectly.
