Tom King animates seaside pests and perverts and other "beach dicks" in cute new short

Summer can bring out the best in people: their legs, their caution being blown to the wind, and their realisation that it’s now acceptable to drink an entire box of rosé in one afternoon if you just call it a picnic. Sadly though it’s not all frolics – summer can also spectacularly bring out peoples’ inner a-hole. Animator Tom King has created a wonderful homage to irritating beach-goers in his new short Beach Dick. With a familiar yet sweet, charming style, his colourful characters sparkle with human touches that have a surreal edge. In just over a minute, we see dangers of various types of “beach dick” – a creepy camera-wielding voyeur, a merry hat trampler and a man who has an unsightly accident in his shorts. Very fun viewing, and a useful little animated beach survival manual to boot.
