Illustration: Benjamin Evenett breathes new life into classic paintings

Date
7 October 2013

Artists and creatives have been endorsing the “imaginative imitation” of the work of others for centuries, and Benjamin Evenett is certainly among them. The illustrator is based near London, and his portfolio includes works which recreate timeless classic paintings by Bonnard, Kahlo, Matisse and Renoir and others. We particularly love his use of muted colours and painterly lines, which make reference to the history of timeless artwork while still allowing viewers a new perspective on it. If this is being a copycat, long may it continue!
