A lovely collection of Girls, Clothes and Things by Chris Rhodes

Chris Rhodes’ photo-series Girls, Clothes and Things scrolls like a collection of fabric swatches, so tactile and brimming with texture are the images he creates. He started the project back in February when AnOther Magazine asked him to cover London Fashion Week’s AW15 shows, which goes some way to explaining the vivid, sensory kaleidoscope they show, but he has continued snapping his day-to-day experience in a similar, tactile manner to create a larger body of work which documents his daily experiences more holistically.

“As my photography derives from a brash and instinctive working method the chaos of the shows allowed for a perfect spontaneous documentation of London Fashion Week,” Chris says. “My photography holds its focus on people and the ‘self-made landscapes’ they create. The human presence within a conventional portrait sense may be secondary, but a figurative representation is systematically suggested through objects and colours.” Thus, his female subjects become a sum of the objects and garments which surround them, from a pair of red leather boots to a chaotic assortments of lightbulbs spilling out of a box, while dusky pinks and soft, pastel hues dominate his colour palette.
