“Counter-culture fair” Cultural Traffic opens in Shoreditch [NSFW]
On Friday and Saturday, the UK’s “first annual fair for dealers in counter culture and independent producers of zines, prints, catalogues, vinyls and tapes” will take over old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch.
Organised by Toby Mott, formerly a founding member of disruptive artist collective the Grey Organisation and now one of punk’s leading enthusiasts and historians (as well as an artist, fashion designer, editor and founder of political punk archive the Mott Collection), Cultural Traffic will shelve out-of-print material and cultural artefacts alongside contemporary print publications.
Amongst the long list of contributors are Angel Rose, Born Free Press, Ditto, Hate magazine, Fanpages, Ram Books Vintage Erotica, Scott King, Skin Deep, William Ling Fine Art, The Photocopy Club and Rogue materials — a presentation of Sex Pistols printed matter by radical artist Jamie Reid.
“Cultural Traffic is not just an arts fair for paper but a celebration of ideas and expression,” Toby Mott explains. “Cultural Traffic will pave the way for exposure and engagement in radical print now.”
