Date
1 April 2016

D&AD has announced the shortlist for its Next Awards, which celebrate emerging photography and directorial talent. The winners of both Next Awards will be announced on 19 May at the D&AD Awards Ceremony in London.

The D&AD Next Photographer Award, in partnership with Getty Images, celebrates up-and-coming photographers by showcasing selected work to industry folk including art buyers, commercial creatives and professional peers. Shortlisted entrants were decided by a panel including photographers Thomas Brown and James Day, Michael Trow from British Vogue, Kate Edwards from The Guardian, and Andy Saunders of Getty Images.

Among those shortlisted this year are Anna Filipova for Research At The End Of The World, Felicia Simion for The Playground, Solmaz Daryani for The Eyes of the Earth, Jakub Pasierkiewicz for Natural Resemblance and Corey Bartle-Sanderson for Homeware. The overall winner will be named D&AD Next Photographer 2016.

There are 21 shortlisted directors for the Next Director Award, which is open to filmmakers with under two years commercial filmmaking experience. To enter, they could submit up to three films of any genre including short films, commercials, branded content, documentaries and music videos. Each shortlisted director receives prizes such as mentoring during the D&AD Festival, which will also be screening their work. The judging panel includes directors Kim Gehrig and Dougal Wilson and David Knight of Promonews and BUG.

Those on the list include Daisy Jacobs for her animation The Bigger Pitcure, Dexter Navy for his
A$AP Rocky music video, Elizabeth Lo for her documentary Hotel 22 and Swiss trio Roman Kaelin, Falko Paeper and Florian Wittmann for their short film Wrapped.
