The friendly, block-colour world of French illustrator Jacques Floret

Back in 2008, Jacques Floret was commissioned by fashion emperors A.P.C to illustrate their denim catalogue. Armed only with a trusty Bic pen, Jacques rose to the challenge and created some images of half-naked, half denim-clad youths in a tropical forest and was soon in high demand for his illustrative ability.

Although Jacques has put his Bic down for the time being, he is now spending his days creating smooth, linear illustrations of Opie-esque, vacant humans lovingly filled in with friendly pastel shades. Getting commissions from all over the place, including the likes of Le Monde, Technikart and various music labels, it’s clear that Jacques’ friendly and sweet style is proving to be as popular with big companies and publishers as it is with his die-hard fans.
