John Hinde: Postcards

One of the loveliest sites you could ever browse through has got to be John Hinde’s postcard archive. A prolific maker of fantasy-filled images throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Hinde made no attempt to hide his control-freak approach to composition or his use of post-production colour enhancement. And all the better for it – his aesthetic has been paramount in shaping our idea of what a holiday destination should look like: all picture perfect, rainbow hued and fuzzy-edged.
