Kenny Braun's new book looks at Texas' relatively unknown surfing scene

I’m loathe to use the term “coffee table book” for a publication which seems to demand to be read anywhere and everywhere, rather than sitting untouched next to a selection of coasters. Still, the new tome by photographer Kenny Braun necessitates it; Surf Texas is a book so good that you’ll be desperate to keep it where it can be seen by anyone who might be passing idly through your living room.

Kenny has taken the surfing scene in Texas for its subject, and he deals with it aptly in hazy but impactful monochrome photographs. His images are dreamy, oozing the serenity of the lifestyle alongside the action of the sport in an artful juxtaposition, with generous spreads and gently sharp details that somehow capture the essence of the sport as well as the beauty of the Texas Gulf Coast. Even better, you can buy it here to gaze at and read anywhere you like. Best of all on the coffee table though, eh?
