Dina Litovsky, Little Troop, Na Kim and Julian Adon Alexander: Tickets now available for June’s Nicer Tuesdays in New York!

We’re returning with the first of two summer Nicer Tuesdays events in New York. Time to settle into some talks about photography, a playful family festival identity and balancing a career in two different creative mediums.

Roll up, roll up! New Yorkers, we’re coming back. Since our last stateside event in February, we’ve been cooking up an unmissable line-up just for you, landing at the SVA Theatre in June.

At the event, you can expect talks from one of New York’s most fun-filled design studios, Little Troop, the art director, designer and now painter, Na Kim, and the illustrator crafting atmospheric scenes, Julian Adon Alexander (aka Snakebone). We’ll also have an extra special bonus talk from the cause-led design studio Templo, who’ll be giving the lowdown on their redesign of the GF Smith brand. And, for our Q&A slot, we’ll be hearing from the celebrated photographer Dina Litovsky, an artist who’s used her camera to capture the complex make up of modern America.

Alongside the talks, we’ll also have representatives from Frontify and GF Smith at the event, giving you the chance to have a chat and get your hands on some merch. Make sure to get down to the event at 6.30 to have the chance to get involved and grab a drink and snack from our sponsors SuperGay and Love Corn!

The event will take place on Tuesday 17 June at the School of Visual Arts Theatre in Chelsea. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and the talks will begin around 7pm. The full address is SVA Theatre, 333 West 23rd Street, New York, NY10011. It’s a seated event, so get there early to ensure a seat and pick up a drink beforehand!

Please be aware that photography and filming may be taken at this event for marketing and promotional purposes. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed, please speak to our team on the day. Also, if you are in need of disability access, please email hello@nicertuesdays.com so we can arrange assistance with the venue team.

Dina Litovsky is a photographer who’s developed a brilliant way of encapsulating the American condition with her starkly lit, uncompromising works. She’s captured the spirit of cheerleading, New York’s rubbish collectors, Amish communities, as well as more recently diving deep into the disquieting world of Trump rallies. Not only has her work graced many eminent publications, from The New York Times to Time magazine, she’s also taken portraits of stars like Ringo Starr, Debbie Harry and Dua Lipa. At June’s event, Dina will be sitting down with our US editor-at-large Elizabeth Goodspeed, to speak about her career so far.

Over the past five years the design studio Little Troop has made a name for itself creating brands that are bursting with colour, humour and retro charm. Some highlights include its curated chaos identity for Nik Bentel studio, a retrofuturist brand and clickable logo for a home storage company, as well as its recent identity for MoMA’s family festival, which was characterised by a playful peculiarity. At Nicer Tuesdays, the studio’s two co-founders and creative directors Noemie Le Coz and Jeremy Elliot will be walking through the latter, which saw them designing for as small as cafe placemats, to as large as billboards – all with family fun in mind.

Na Kim is a designer and art director known for her many beautiful book covers and her work as art director at the Paris Review. In recent years, Na has added yet another string to her creative bow, developing a painting career and passion; she creates figurative works that are striking “studies in subjectivity”. Na will be walking the Nicer Tuesdays audience through how to take the leap and to pursue a new avenue, what it’s like to balance such an array of creative outputs, and just how she does it.

Full of charcoal strokes, dramatic lighting and atmospheric scenes, Julian Adon Alexander’s pieces are instantly enchanting. Recently graduating from a BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts, Julian aims to use his pen to “tell relatable stories of the many ways human emotion can manifest itself in the physical world”, and has worked with clients like The New Yorker, NBA G League and Nike. On the night Julian will be taking us through his creative journey so far, touching on a few key projects and shedding light on his distinctive style.
