Oliver Hadlee Pearch's playful shoot for Arena Homme+ is cooly nostalgic
These photographs in the latest issue of the ultra-slick men’s fashion mag, Arena Homme+, are so incredibly perfect, never have I felt so giddy at the combination of slouched, neutral knitwear and ambiguous, colourful props.
Taken by Oliver Hadlee Pearch and styled by Max Clark, it’s the kind of nostalgic trip everyone’s loving right now, but instead of being a naff pastiche, the Memphis-themed set feels like a glorious tribute to years gone by with the models donning fashion powerhouses like Versace and Prada. The colours are wonderful with soft shades of black, brown and camel contrasted with lovely knitted textures and a flat matte grey background.
It’s Oliver’s style that brings this whole concept together so effortlessly and I just love the playfulness and frivolity of the shoot. With oversized flowers, brightly coloured poles and other zany props being casually held and leant against, it’s what adds to the outrageous coolness. And don’t even get me started on the beautifully coiffured hair!
