Olivier Tallec is a French illustrator with a beautiful way of wordlessly capturing the petty dramas and joys of childhood which seem so important at the time. His charming portfolio is at its best with these mini-narratives, combining the imaginary world with the prosaic realities of most of our upbringings, but he also has a neat line in more enigmatic scenes such as the apparent aftermath of a great skateboarding catastrophe/triumph. Lovely, simple, heartstring-tugging stuff.
