Sculpture: A condensed funfair and giant floating bottle star in new outdoor show

What with their trendy foodie culture and compellingly bleak crime dramas, there’s a bit of a fixation with Denmark these days. And so to the coastal town of Aarhus which is hosting the latest Sculpture By The Sea festival. First launched in 1997, the exhibitions take place in Australia and Scandinavia and bring together an eclectic mix of work on the local parks, beaches and forests.

The sheer range on show makes it a mightily impressive undertaking; from intricate thread installations to a giant message-in-a-bottle floating in the sea, and an entire funfair condensed into a cube (by The Glue Society who previously exhibited a melted ice-cream van at the Bondi Beach version of the show) to a guitar-shaped jetty.

I’m pretty tempted to book a fight to Aarhus post haste to romp among this awesome collection of al fresco art.
