The Cosby Sweater Project

Date
24 February 2012

Some projects we feature need a great deal of introduction and explanation, but we can leave aside conceptual grappling for The Cosby Sweater Project. This Tumblr takes an episode of the iconic 1980s American comedy, picks out one of Bill’s eye-melting jumpers (or sometimes another character’s knitwear), and does a nicely naive illustration of the pattern. Sometimes, there’s also a gnomic utterance about the episode or the character involved, which could stand alone as a weird post-modern haiku. “Theo always wears the best sweaters! Even when he’s just hanging around the house and helping Rudy hide a dog in the basement.” Very wise.
