Ville Savimaa was last on the site a jaw-dropping five years ago when our director Alex Bec described his work as “gaseous.” It’s not as pejorative an adjective as it might seem in this case, as years later it still seems to suit the whimsical shapes and cloud-like forms that the Finnish illustrator is such a dab hand at.
While checking out his work over on Agent Pekka’s site we stumbled across this gem; a TV commercial for Tivoli, the olde-worldly Copenhagen theme park and place where dreams are born. It’s fantastical, covered in confectionary and utterly sumptuous, but perhaps even more impressively, it’s incredibly well-executed. There’s neither a tiny pink bird nor a lollypop out of place, and the fast-paced whooping of the train track that the viewer is placed on has the somewhat surprising effect of actually making you feel like you’re on a ride.
