Yoan Putra's maximalist graphic and typeface design is bursting with raw energy

In Batu City, Indonesia, graphic and typeface designer Yoan Putra AKA MortoGvng is creating projects for clients halfway around the world. They’re kinetic, hyper and innovative – so it’s no wonder the likes of Shy Girl has tapped Yoan for her latest tour posters. On Shy Girl’s poster, and his other designs alike, typography comes to life with dynamic shape and 3D graphics. “I’m focusing on improving my typeface work with more 3D elements, because I’m really keen to learn more about CGI,” Yoan tells It’s Nice That.

A lot of Yoan’s work is incredibly diverse, from cover art for musicians to kawaii posters and logo design, and even experimental futuristic cyborgs. “My output depends on my feelings at the time,” Yoan explains. “Or, what I’ve been listening to over the last few weeks, and what I’ve seen around me.” As Yoan’s feelings are constantly in flux, there’s a constant switch-up in styles throughout his portfolio. However, no matter what Yoan produces, they all feel distinctively cohesive.
