Maxime Mouysset's hilarious, bonkers animation mixes sport, surrealism and slapstick humour

Mixing absurd scenarios with well executed, simple monochrome line work, Maxime Modysset’s animation is a wonderful ode to sport, surrealism and slapstick humour. Entitled Zap 2 Sport, the short film runs through various sports, which start off normal then end in a strange twist. Our shot-putter can only throw inside the confines of his little hand-drawn aspect ratio; our ping-pong players gradually destroy their table throughout their rally. It’s enormously fun and very compelling, and marks a nice departure from Maxime’s graphic design projects. The piece is her graduation project for the Art Décoratif school in Strasbourg, France.
