The French-Senegalese singer let us in on whats been pouring into her gentle soul and R&B tracks while we pick her brains for what you should get up to on your next day off.

A tender, experimental portrait of the multidisciplinary artist, one of our favourite albums from the past year has to be anaiis’ Devotion & The Black Divine. It’s ethereal, gentle sounds have been playing on a soft loop since the it came out last September, recently followed by two new singles marking the London-based singer, songwriters first 2026 releases this July: Sunshine and P4P. Two songs “connected to the theme of love and the weight of the terrifying times we are living through”, the artist says in an interview with The Line of Best Fit, these singles have arrived with the announcement of her first North American headline tour across the US and Canada this September, starting out in LA. So if you missed anaiis’ festival circuit this summer, you’re in luck!
We were keen to find out a bit about whats been pouring into the French-Senegalese singers gentle soul and R&B tracks, and, whilst she’s settled the Jollof debate in conversation with Hypebeast over on Instagram already, we were keen to uncover more of her food recs as fellow Londoners. This weekend with the singer offered up a great things to listen to, read, browse, watch or eat on your next day off. “I’d like to attend L’Rain’s show at the ICA. I love the programming at the ICA in general, they put on great cinema as well as exhibitions.”

“Annoyingly, I fell off of my reading habit in the last couple of months. I’m a part of a bookclub in London which usually keeps me on my toes. As I’ve been super busy this summer, I haven’t been able to keep up with it but I did recently pick up and started reading a small book that looks at the work of Marina Abramovic entitled On The Erotic that I got from this cute bookshop in Camberwell.”
I’ll be eating...
“I’ll be eating at the Tamil Prince in Islington. I went there recently and had the best mattar paneer I’ve ever had I think, the whole menu was delicious.”
I’ll be watching...
“My current mission is to get out to the theatre more, to be honest I don’t really watch TV that much. But I am keen on going to the cinema and the theatre more often. One of the best things I’ve ever seen was Black Boys Who Have Considered Suicide When The Hue Gets Too Heavy by Ryan Calais Cameron which I’d highly recommend everyone to see when it’s back in the theatre!”
Something I’ve got my eye on…
“I’ve been looking at houses on this website, they’re highly desirable lol... but yeah got a long way to go until I can afford one!”

“I loved the Nyron Higor album! Such a beautiful listen you can easily put on a loop.”
