The Bob’s Burgers movie is happening, and promises to be “an epic adventure”

The much loved Belcher family is coming to the big screen, as announced by Bob’s Burgers creator Loren Bouchard yesterday. After it won an Emmy earlier this year for Outstanding Animated Program, beating Archer, South Park and The Simpsons, the series has now gathered enough momentum for a feature film.

“We know the movie has to scratch every itch the fans of the show have ever had,” Loren said in a statement, “but it also has to work for all the good people who’ve never seen the show. We also know it has to fill every inch of the screen with the colours and the sounds and the ever-so-slightly greasy texture of the world of Bob’s — but most of all it has to take our characters on an epic adventure. In other words, it has to be the best movie ever made. But no pressure, right?”

The film will be produced by Fox Animation, but fans will have to wait until July 2020 for the results. Loren spoke to It’s Nice That earlier this year when he launched Bob’s Burgers Music Album, and explained why he believes the eight-season-strong show works so well. “I love the fact that you get a family and a workplace all in one. Nobody bats an eyelid because all over the world there are kids that work in their parents’ restaurants. [There’s] a lot to be said about doing an animated show about a family… There was a brief moment when we thought they would also be cannibals…but we took that out.”

He also cleverly avoided questions on the real reason for Louise’s bunny ears, and whether Teddy will ever find love, so here’s hoping the film will shed some light on these important topics.
