Gilles Peterson has been appointed as the new creative director of WeTransfer. He will curate live events, direct films and bring together new music partnerships and content for the file-sharing company. Gilles will also work on marketing and editorial projects alongside WeTransfer’s chief marketing officer Damian Bradfield to shape its creative strategy.

“Every brand today is talking about being authentic,” Damian says, “you can’t get more authentic than Gilles. He’s been curating contemporary music for as long as the tech industry can remember, with the energy and enthusiasm for new music of a 20-year-old.”

The announcement was made in Cannes, where Gilles hosted the WeTalkMusic panel discussion with Ken Robinson, Troy Carter and Shep Gordon, and a night featuring Floating Points and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith.

His first project for WeTransfer will be creating the third series of short documentaries The Creative Class, which will focus on the creative scene in Cuba and how it has developed with limited access to technology and the internet. He will also be launching Worldwide FM, an online radio platform exploring arts, music and culture, in September 2016.
