Waterborne venues to host Jeremy Deller and Jem Cohen works for inaugural Estuary festival

Tilbury Cruise Terminal and a collection of waterborne venues on the Thames will host works by Jeremy Deller, Jem Cohen and Adam Chodzko for a show as part of arts hub Metal’s new festival, Estuary. The Points of Departure exhibition will also be hosted across the river in Gravesend, Kent, and feature new commissions developed in residency at Metal by Jem, Caroline Bergvall and Chloe Dewe Mathews.

Estuary is a new arts biennial taking place along the Essex and Kent shorelines from 17 September—2 October. The programme of contemporary visual art, literature, film and music is being curated in response to the Thames Estuary by Metal’s artistic director Colette Bailey with Gareth Evans, Sue Jones and Rachel Lichtenstein.

Also on the programme is Sound of the Thames Delta, a series of panel discussions, live music and film screenings inspired by Southend Rock. Taking place at the end of Southend-on-Sea pier, the bill features Pete Paphides, Chris Fenwick and Ruth Barnes.
