International Magic, Traum Inc, Nic Hamilton, Novembre Global, The Experience Machine and Valtteri Laihanen have become One, a new kind of mega-studio making unconventional work on a large scale.

The new collaboration hopes to bring together design disciplines and styles across a wide range, but all seem to be focused on the future of design and ergonomically considered cultural projects. The team’s holistic approach brings together strategy, creative and production, combining research and bespoke tools to build hybrid worlds in both physical and digital spaces.

International Magic, for example, is an experience design studio, focused specifically on interaction and communication for performance. It recently created a virtual experience for Nike telling the story of women’s football ahead of the 2022 Uefa Women’s Euros.

Whereas Traum Inc creates still and moving images, finding the newest technologies to create content for use in design and art. It works across a spectrum of fields, from fashion brands like Nike, Moncler and Prada, to entertainment like MTV and Mubi, and institutions such as The Design Museum.

And The Experience Machine is a creative direction and production studio creating performances and experiences using physical engineering, lighting design, moving image and visual programming. Its worked with Beyonce, created concert shows for Skepta, and recently fashioned an immersive experience for the Google Pixel 2 at Selfridges.

These studios and the others that makeup One claim to think in multiple languages, across time zones, and hope to harness a growing roster of disciplines in order to create immersive experiences.
