Pierre-Marie Agin's designs for Hockney-inspired film A Bigger Splash

Paris-based graphic designer Pierre-Marie Agin has created the artwork for upcoming film A Bigger Splash, which takes its title from a painting by David Hockney.

The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, and stars Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson and Matthias Schoenaerts. It is based on Jacques Deray’s 1969 film La Piscine, and the titular reference to Hockney’s painting of a California pool is a nod to setting of the film’s central plot point.

Pierre-Marie’s designs make use of the Hockney reference’s bright hues and the sense of anticipation, with the film’s main characters forming a sort of central crest with a snake and foliage.

A Bigger Splash is released in cinemas this Friday.
