Soda Studio and Everpress have enlisted some the design world’s most thrilling thinkers and creatives for a new charity campaign. The design-led project aims to raise awareness for The Childhood Trust, aiming towards alleviating child poverty.

The project is themed around the notion of “Sanctuary” and each designer was given the brief to consider what the concept meant to them. The result was design depicted through a variety of mediums, including typography, and illustration from SODA, artists Corin Kennington and Jonny Gent; designers Hato, Pentagram, Lovers and Here Design; illustrators Inari Sirola, Jamie Edler and Lawrence Slater; photographer Lewis Khan; and architects DK-CM and Zaha Hadid Design.

Design studio Hato have opted for inky calm, Pentagram ‘Be Kind’ design using clean the sans-serif Davetica. The font highlights the word “kind” within an angled smile, while Lawrence’s design recalls early memories of his family. Speaking on it, he says, “I always remember my younger sister holding onto my mum’s leg as a kid and getting wrapped up in her dress, I guess it made her feel safe”.

Katie Stamp, Head of Graphics at Soda says: “Working with the Childhood Trust has been a wonderful experience and helped demonstrate how design can play an important part in improving people’s daily lives. It’s so important for children to feel that they can spend time in safe environments, which is something a lot of us take for granted. We are also overwhelmed by the responses we’ve had from a broad range of creative people and studios in London who have generously given their time and designs for this project.”
