WeWork gets a new name, and a slightly new look too

We’d wager that a fair few of our UK readers will have experience brainstorming some real out-of-the-box-but-definitely-blue-sky-oriented thinking in one of the many WeWork offices that have popped up in London and Manchester over the last few years. In fact, given that the company operates in 96 cities across the globe, most of you reading this will probably have nipped into one of their 539 branches for coffee, croissants, and a chat with someone from some micro-agency or other.

As of today, WeWork as we previously knew it is no more. Looking to diversify beyond office rentals and the creation of co-working spaces for all manner of start-ups and small businesses, and wanting to join the dots between WeWork, WeLive (its residential offering) and WeGrow (a series of “conscious entrepreneurial” schools), the group has announced the decision to move forward as… the We Company.

This means, of course, that it has got a shiny new logo which will no doubt emblazon everything from email signatures to sweatshirts. The circle, we’ve surmised, represents the fact that they’ve decided to unify the brand and its ambitions.

In a blog published on January 8, We Company founders Adam Neumann, Rebekah Neumann and Miguel McKelvey, explain the rationale behind the decision to refocus, rethink, and rebrand: “The idea that began in New York nine years ago was always about more than work – it was about supporting all aspects of life. As we’ve built WeWork, our community taught us that we are more alike than we are different. It taught us that we all thrive when we have a purpose. And it taught us that experiences bring more fulfilment and joy than material goods,” the statement says.

Watch a brief video outlining how the We Company aims to “elevate the world’s consciousness” below.
