Two images are shown side by side. The first is a blue plastic bag filled with groceries, including a clear packet of oranges, set against a matching blue background. The second is a collage of a “Butter Rich” advertisement, with large sections of the image covered by torn strips of blue paper.

David Brandon Geeting’s brilliant and strange litter-based art

New York-based photographer David Brandon Geeting has branched out into the art world with his exhibited series Waste Management , which has collaged frosted flakes, tissue boxes, empty mouthwash bottles, broken fans and abandoned ornaments amongst vivid backgrounds and plastic bags. The series manages to balance chaotic compositions with abstract close-ups that are engaging rather than overwhelming. The cut-out details, tears and shifts in scale lend the Hefty Odor Block and Good Sense Handies a strange gravitas.

We’ve featured David’s still life photography and books a bunch of times before, and with his work going from strength to strength, we may soon be adding a D-B-G category. As well as his personal practice, David continues to work with Bloomberg Businessweek , The New York Times and The Fader amongst many others.
