Form meets function in Font Things First, a considered collection of type specimens

Designer Gareth Jones recently got in touch to share a new typographic project of his. Font Things First is a personal undertaking that encompasses his work for font foundry The Northern Block, and takes shape as a curated selection of type specimens showcasing the different characteristics and strengths of his various new fonts. The well finished publication attempts to allow typographic form to reflect its desired function, whilst creating dynamic juxtapositions from page to page and showing Gareth as a young designer well equipped for both editorial and type design.
