Great illuminated alphabet by illustrative duo Icinori

—
Date
13 June 2012

Icinori is the publishing studio of illustrators Mayumi Otero and Raphael Urwiller and theirs is an operation of the most worthy – make books, sell books, fund next project. It means they keep costs down and their independence, with the content of the books, of course, being subject only to the restrictions of their own illustrative fancies.

In particular I’d like to point your eyeballs at the ongoing Lettrines work, where both artists have divvied up the alphabet and created these delightful illuminated letters. In a medley of styles and references they’ve individually forged a “T” in two-tone, gone George Grosz-esque on “N” and made “I” into something like a bookplate.
