This April, Dutch artist and photographer Viviane Sassen will release a new book. Roxane II will follow up on Viviane’s 2012 book Roxane which charted Viviane’s intimate relationship with her muse across years.

The second visual diary narrating the intimacy shared by the two women, Roxane II brings together photographer and muse once more. Although it is Roxane’s body which dominates the book’s pages, Viviane’s presence hovers over the book’s pages, visible in shadow and through marks made in paint. As poet, writer and visual artist Maria Barnas writes in the book’s introduction, “when I take a glance at our selves I hold my breath and see us expand in colours and clouds bursting from a mouth. Are they yours or mine?”

Published by Oodee, the book contains 115 photographs across 152 pages. Roxane II run to 1,000 copies with 30 limited editions.
