Mona Chalabi shares some of her top tips for making it as a freelancer

The world of freelancing can seem intimidating. It’s hard to know where to start – how do you keep track of your finances? How do you protect your ideas? And how do you even find clients in the first place?

At Nicer Tuesdays in December, Mona Chalabi, a “journalist who really loves numbers” gave us an insight into what exactly it is that she does. It involves translating spreadsheets, facts, figures and questions into illustrations that make the information readable to even the most maths-averse among us. The bulk of her talk, however, was a masterclass in making it as a freelancer and she outlined several top tips in an honest and frank way.
