From Lord of The Rings fanzines to chainmail bikinis: Inside the packed portfolio of Charlotte Mei
At December’s Nicer Tuesdays in London, the painter and illustrator Charlotte Mei returned to the Nicer Tuesdays stage to take the audience through a brief retrospective of her creative life, from The Lord of The Rings fanzines and love for cartoons to working in the “adult world” with clients such as Sony Music, Hermès, Nike, Ferragamo, Rimowa, Panasonic, Beams Japan and Casio with works surrounding myths, memories and even chainmail bikinis. As well as that, Charlotte speaks candidly about being a working-class artist in an often inaccessible industry.
