The 2012 Pirelli Calendar

Date
9 December 2011

Amid the usual fanfare, the 2012 Pirelli Calendar was unveiled in New York this week but there was one very notable thing about the new collection of artfully photographed naked models. For the first time in its 47-year history, the task of taking on the iconic assignment fell to an Italian – Mario Sorrenti – who has also dispensed with the traditional one model, one month approach in favour of a mix and match format. It’s odd that it has taken an Italian brand so long to invite a compatriot to photograph the calendar, but if these pictures are anything to go by it probably won’t be the last time. (Potentially NSFW.)
