William Edmonds' beautifully pared back drawings of the Barbican Conservatory

Date
11 July 2016

Pictures of the Barbican Conservatory are ten a penny on Instagram and Facebook, generally showing people having a lovely time with someone named “bae,” but illustrator William Edmond has taken a refreshing approach to depicting the pretty little London garden. In a new book simply entitled Drawings, William presents the fruits (and fauna) of numerous trips to the space, creating a series of simple, pared back botanical drawings.

Stripping back his subjects to monochrome line drawings, the shapes become abstracted and elegant in their simplicity. Drawings is the first in a series of books of drawings from Nous Vous, published by new publishing venture Nous Vous Press.
