Since 2007, It’s Nice That’s mission has been to champion creativity in its many wonderful forms to the broadest possible audience. With the help of our readers, over the past 13 years we’ve grown to become a leading platform showcasing the very best creative projects and the talented people behind them, and reporting on vital industry news as well.

Over the years, we’ve championed creativity in a variety of formats, from publishing over 25,000 articles on our website to printing an entire shelf’s worth of magazines under the banner of Printed Pages, not to mention hosting 120 Nicer Tuesdays events, bringing the creative community together, both physically in London and more recently online for the rest of the world too.

Today we introduce something entirely new to It’s Nice That, marking an evolution from simply championing creativity to now more directly supporting it too. We call it Extra Nice, and here’s your chance to become a Founding Supporter.

Become an Extra Nice Supporter!

It’s Nice That is an independent publisher that was originally founded by two university students with the explicit mission of championing the best of creativity to as many people as possible. We’re still determined to keep our platform accessible and open to all. So, rather than put up a paywall and exclude some of our readers, we’re launching Extra Nice, which will help us to continue sharing inspiring stories about creativity with everyone, while adding something extra to the everyday experience of our platform. Extra Nice does this in three ways...

Extra Search

We know our readers, above all else, come to us for inspiration. With this in mind, the first element of Extra Nice is Extra Search, offering an entirely new way to explore the It’s Nice That archive, image first! By signing up to Extra Nice, you’ll unlock the ability to explore over 100,000 images from articles published on It’s Nice That, helping you to find thousands of inspiring artists, designers, studios and agencies that we’ve had the pleasure of writing about over the years.

Extra Search also allows you to filter by topics, tags and disciplines, and even includes an intuitive colour wheel if you’re searching for work in a particular tone. Whether you’re looking to explore visuals from your favourite creative or to dig deeper into niche formats like typography-led music posters, Extra Search offers endless possibilities for visual inspiration – supporting your creativity like we’ve never done before.

Extra Nice Fund

We strongly believe in making our industry better and supporting the wider creative community. So a key part of Extra Nice is the Extra Nice Fund, specifically set up to focus on improving diversity in our industry. As a Supporter, 10 per cent of your annual fee goes directly towards funding impactful creative projects, which will be selected via an open call on It’s Nice That. This will allow us to not only report on creative stories, but actively strengthen the industry in which they are created.

The work has already begun. To celebrate the launch of Extra Nice and the Extra Nice Fund, we’ve given £1,000 to a young creative we have huge respect for: Okocha Obasi. He set up his publication RaceZine while at university in Leeds, with the express purpose of making British creative culture bolder and more diverse. You can read more about the project and about how Okocha hopes to use this first contribution from the Extra Nice Fund here. Hopefully this provides just a flavour of what this fund can achieve in future.

Extra Perks

To make sure Extra Nice really is extra nice, becoming a Supporter also guarantees you get your hands on a whole host of additional perks. This includes a ticket to every single edition of our digital monthly event Nicer Tuesdays Online, which offers a new way to engage with the global creative community and get inspired on a Tuesday evening. You’ll also receive a fortnightly newsletter direct from the desk of our editor-in-chief Matt Alagiah, providing a run-down of the latest news, views and opinion from the creative industry.

What’s more, you have until the end of December 2020 to become an Extra Nice Founding Supporter, which means you’ll get your hands on an exclusive print to pop on your wall, created by one of two incredible artists and designers: Bráulio Amado and Lilian Martinez (otherwise known as BFGF). Each artwork is litho printed on specially chosen G.F Smith paper and measures 500x500mm. And best of all, you get to choose which one you’d like us to send you.

Supporting It’s Nice That

Extra Nice will also support our editorial team to develop original stories surrounding creativity in fresh and exciting ways. Whether it’s discussing the industry in a week-long editorial series focused on a particular issue, in-depth interviews with creativity’s most exciting names, or simply aiding us in finding more creatives to showcase on the site, your support in Extra Nice will help us in championing creativity long into the future.

All that’s left to say is that we couldn’t be more excited for this new chapter of It’s Nice That. Whether you become an Extra Nice Supporter or not, rest assured that It’s Nice That will always be here, open to all, looking to make the creative industry an exciting, inclusive and inspiring corner of the cultural world.
