Our snapshot of what stirred you in the world of moving image begins with an inside scoop of the ever-emotive kids TV programme Bluey, from its creative director Catriona Drummond. The running thread of 2025 was you lot wanting a peek into the room where it happens, curious on how The White Lotus’ opening sequence materialised, what brought 27 filmmakers to join forces for Coldplay’, 🌈 (Alien Hits/Alien Radio), and how Jack Sachs beared the torch for Cartoon Network’s revival of The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball.

You were also dying to know how things work, and so are we! Our insights column POV caught wind of new interactions between AI and traditional techniques. Also taking top spots were dives into analogue rabbit holes, like Gaia Alari’s stop motion animations and illustrations, and Nata Metlukh’s physical explorations of how far traditional materials can take you. It’s easy to see that we’re starting to come back to what we can touch – Adrian Hanft’s animations using old receipts are case in point. We desire to feel and, ultimately, get weird with the materials right in front of us.
