Unearth your creativity with It’s Nice That and the LEGO Group at LDF

The LEGO Group has collaborated with It’s Nice That on a new interactive experiential event in London called The LEGO® Piece Garden, which invites visitors to escape the busy city and tap into their creative potential. In partnership with the London Design Festival (LDF), the installation will run alongside the other events and shows being organised across the city in September.

Hosted in a pop-up space in Shoreditch, The LEGO® Piece Garden is a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding streets. Here, surrounded by beautiful forms and colours, visitors can discover the LEGO Botanicals Collection – a range of vibrant flowers that can be built using newly designed LEGO stems, petals and leaves.

Drawing inspiration from the space, and with guidance from LEGO helpers, visitors are encouraged to sit down, engage in a moment of tranquil play and build beautiful blooms that will then live on the walls of a community garden. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enter into a competition to win botanical-themed LEGO artworks, created by two artists-in-residence who will be working in the space over the course of the installation.

To be in with a chance of winning, visitors simply have to place their finished flowers on the moss-filled LEGO Flower Wall, take a picture of their creation, share it on Instagram using the hashtag #LEGOPieceGarden, and @itsnicethat within an Instagram Story or feed post. The artists-in-residence, Charlotte Mei and Alec Doherty, will then choose their favourite flower and its creator will be given an original artwork by one of them. As well as building a flower in solitude in an area designed to enable joyful focus, visitors can also join workshops run by Charlotte and Alec, where they will dream up their own designs in a collaborative environment surrounded by other participants. Here, extra guidance and inspiration will be offered, with participants also then given the chance to enter into the competition at the end. The first workshop, run by Alec, will take place at 4pm on Saturday 16th September, and the second workshop, run by Charlotte, will take place at 7pm on Thursday 21st September.

Elsewhere in the installation, visitors can explore the LEGO Adults Welcome range, a collection of LEGO sets designed to encourage relaxation, play and creativity. There will also be a photo booth, where visitors can take some fun snaps of themselves within The LEGO® Piece Garden.

During the production of this event, we have adopted a conscious approach wherever possible. All of the materials for the set design, signage, out-of-home banners, and printed items are recycled or recyclable, and will be disposed of responsibly, while the LEGO bricks will be re-used.
