Illustrator Marion Deuchars has created a campaign identity for publisher Laurence King made up of expressive handwritten artworks.

The entirely type-based designs are “a nod to the raft of artists and designers the publishing house has worked with,” with the main image featuring an energetic collection of book titles, from Bob the Artist to The End of Print.

Using a busy mixture of type sizes and styles, upper and lower case letters and bold and delicate handwriting, the artwork conveys the spirit Marion’s illustrations are known for.

The campaign identity was art directed by the publisher’s creative director Angus Hyland, and designed in-house by Alexandre Coco. It marks Laurence King Publishing’s 25th anniversary, and will be applied to advertising, bookshop windows, point of sale and digital marketing.
