Mr Bingo and Anthony Burrill create rude rework of “Work Hard and Be Nice To People”

Anthony Burrill has collaborated with artist Mr Bingo to rework his typographic print :“Work Hard and Be Nice To People”. The poster, originally created in 2004 by Burrill as a gift for friends and prospective clients, was inspired by a conversation Burrill overhead in a supermarket. Now, in a limited edition run of 100, Mr Bingo has, in his distinctive handwriting, crossed out the word “nice” and replaced it with the word “shit”.

“I was sitting on a train and the idea popped into my head,” says Bingo. “I was thinking about how popular the saying was and how I had managed some success doing the opposite.” The artist messaged Burrill expecting him to decline, but was surprised when the response was positive. “I drew it up and sent it to him. I find it funny, but I am chuffed, that he let me write shit on his most famous work.”

The print was letterpressed by Burrill’s long-time collaborator Adams of Rye and Bingo’s red additions were screen printed at Harvey Lloyd in East Sussex. The signed and numbered editions are available here.
