On Thursday last week, we partnered with Wix Playground to host an online event featuring four leading lights from the creative world. Jessica Walsh (of &Walsh), Eike König (artist and founder of Hort), Ollie Olanipekun (co-founder of Superimpose), and Danielle Pender (founder and editor of Riposte magazine) each took to our screens (via Zoom, of course) one by one to talk through how they’ve been impacted by the current lockdown and what they’ve been doing to get through it.

We had over 850 people join the call from all over the world, with audience members dialling in from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Pakistan and Peru, to name just a few. The theme was “Design for Community” and we hope the evening helped foster at least a bit of that sense of connection, despite all the speakers and most of the viewers at home being under lockdown restrictions.

If you enjoyed the evening and want more, or if you missed it but still want a chance to hear from our wonderful quartet of creatives, then you’re in luck. Because today we’re launching a “Meet the Speakers” opportunity. Each of our four panellists has agreed to do an afternoon of one-on-one video calls with creatives of any discipline or level of experience – call it a bit of a “mini-mentoring session”. Use the link below to sign up for free and we’ll let you know if you’ve been successful. The actual calls themselves will be taking place next week, on Wednesday 6 May. As for the applications, we’ll be closing the link below at midday BST on Friday (1 May), so don’t waste any time!

If you’re successful, you can use your allotted time with the speaker in any way you see fit. You might want to present your portfolio and invite them to critique it, or you might want to fire a load of questions at them, or you might simply prefer to chat to them about life outside of work. It’s entirely up to you. Click on the link below and throw your hat in the ring. We hope to see you on a call next week!
