Nicer Tuesdays is returning to LA! Just in time for fall, this September’s line-up promises to bring some fresh inspiration with talks on all things branding, design, photography and folk art!

We’re over the moon to be bringing our Nicer Tuesdays event back to Los Angeles in September with another excellent line-up in store. Come and join us at El Rey Theatre, 5515 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036, on Tuesday 22 September!

At the event, you can expect talks from The New Company, the California-based design agency that works across branding, strategy and marketing for giant clients such as Nike, Venmo, Eharmony and Ralph Lauren. Also joining the stage will be Los Angeles and NYC-based photographer Arielle Bobb-Willis, who has collaborated with brands such as Apple, Valentino and Hermès as well as musicians including Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga.

We’ll also be joined by Jennifer Puno, the founder of the digital design school and branding studio ilovecreatives, which offers services in branding and design as well as courses and resources for creatives across the industry. Last but not least, we have Bill Rebholz, an artist whose artworks combine illustration, graphic painting and an interest in craft, resulting in idiosyncratic signage with folk art sensibilities. Make sure to get down to El Rey to get your fill of creative inspiration from those doing it the best.

We will be partnering with Affinity & Cavalry by Canva for September’s event. Affinity combines professional vector design, photo editing, and page layout in one powerful app, while Cavalry covers 2D animation and motion design.

The New Company is a California-based design and marketing agency co-founded in 2018 by Matt Luckhurst and Seth Mroczka. Working across branding and strategy for clients such as EA Sports, Nike and Ralph Lauren, the studio makes use of clever insights to drive forward-thinking design systems that make brands, emerging or established look like something new. The founders will be taking to the Nicer Tuesdays stage to give us an insight into its creative approach behind the scenes, charting the agency’s story from its early beginnings to the roster of high profile projects it’s pushing out to date.

Arielle Bobb-Willis colour-packed photography portfolio first caught our eye at It’s Nice That all the way back in 2018. The photographer has gone on to accomplish a lot since. Formerly in New York and now based in Los Angeles, Arielle is one of the few photographers to have a Vogue cover, of any kind, before even reaching 25, and has spent the last eight years collaborating with brands such as Nike, Apple, Valentino and Hermès as well as shooting a star studded line up of musicians such as Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga. The photographer will be giving us the run down on her creative journey to date and her curiosity-led approach to image making, including a look into the process behind her photo book, Keep the Kid Alive.

Next up on stage for LA’s September’s Nicer Tuesdays will be entrepreneur, designer, and creative educator Jennifer Puno. The founder of the digital design school and branding studio ilovecreatives, which offers services in branding and design as well as courses and resources for creatives across the industry, founder Jennifer will be outlining how an offshoot from a studio bringing brands to life emerged into an educational platform that aims brings creatives together through skill sharing. The founder will be giving the audience a look into how she has created a brand surrounding ilovecreatives platform and what has been feeding into its wider purpose and mission as an online design school and educational resource.

Bill Rebholz is a creative whose tactile 3D work is influenced by a background in illustration, graphic painting and hands-on craft. Bill will be walking the Nicer Tuesdays crowd through his creative process building pieces with techniques such as sewing and woodwork and some of the inspirations behind his work (namely folk art references and vernacular signage and architecture of California’s cityscapes). The creative will be giving us the run down on how he’s managing splitting his time between commercial and personal projects, making work with a robust sense of shape and character through painted imagery and built objects that let us look at the ordinary anew.
