Going bananas with bold, beautiful flag designs from About

We’re sorry to say we missed independent publishing fair About – by all accounts the lineup was stellar and included some of our indie publishing favourites (Lubok, Landfill and Museums Press). In our defence it was in Mainz, Germany, and that’s a hell of a long way to travel, even for great books. Thankfully we, and anyone else that couldn’t make it to mainland Europe, can take away a little piece of the About experience with one of these stunning flags, available to purchase from the website below.

To launch the About programme, festival organisers Arthur Ruppel, Christoph Tim Schneider and Sebastian Zimmerhackl invited a selection of international designers and artists to create a flag to stand for their personal ideals and values, questioning the traditional modes of flag design and interpreting the medium in a fresh way. We love the results and can’t understand why all flags don’t look this good. I like the Union Jack and that star-spangled banner just fine, but can’t there be some multi-coloured bananas in the middle of them?
