Great new posters and Bauhaus-inspired typeface from Benoît Bodhuin
French type designer Benoît Bodhuin is certainly not a man afraid of experimentation. He’s created some great protest poster type, the ZIGZAG typeface to help “break the rhythm of reading” and the rather lovely fractured-looking Mineral; and now he’s back with some lettering formed only from bars and triangles.
The Bauhaus-inspired typeface is called Side A, and we love the way the simple shapes take on an almost sinister feel; as though each word is pieced together with an intention as sharp and direct as the triangular points that form it. To promote Side A, Benoît also designed a brilliant bunch of poster images, entitled Air Posters. The black, white, yellow and red palette and spiky text means the work would look just as comfortable on an 80s Krautrock release as they would in the Parisian gallery where they were exhibited, which is perhaps why we find them so alluring.
