Beautifully shot portraits of east London skaters

Date
14 August 2015

East London, beautiful people, well-shot portraiture and super-chill, cowabunga skate moves. Yes, Ian Kenneth Bird’s photo-series pretty much has it all. The product of a year’s work, the black and white images were shot throughout east London (though Ian’s reluctant to reveal exactly where, the enigmatic little blighter), and each and every one of the subjects are people he’s met through their shared love of zipping about on little planks of wood with wheels. The poise and dignity infused in the beautifully shot images elevates the sport from its usual grungy aesthetic and into something more elegant, and Ian hopes to eventually turn the ongoing series into a book. Coffee tables of Columbia Road: this one’s coming for you.
