Annie Atkins, Liang-Jung Chen and Derek Ridgers: Tickets now available for February’s Nicer Tuesdays!

After a fantastic 2025 filled with Nicer Tuesdays events across the world, our monthly event is back in London for some talks about graphic design on film sets, unique performance art and photographing youth culture.

Roll up! Join us on 3 February at EartH Hackney for our first Nicer Tuesdays of 2026 with yet another selection of brilliant creatives.

At next month’s event, you can expect talks from Liang-Jung Chen, a London-based artist interested in material culture as they work across several mediums. After going viral with their UK indefinite leave to remain project, which was a thrilling piece of screen-recorded performance art within Microsoft Excel, Liang-Jung will be joining the stage to elaborate on how that project came about whilst introducing their versatile practice.

We’ll also be joined by iconic photographer Derek Ridgers, known for his books In the Eighties: Portraits from Another Time and Skinheads 1979 - 1984, who will be talking about his photographic process, influential photographs of club and youth culture and his new book Hello, I Love You, a celebration of London and love (featuring a lot of kissing – just in time for Valentines Day!).

Following our talks for the evening, Annie Atkins, the Academy Award winning graphic designer will be joining us for a Q&A, covering topics such as the importance of telling your own stories and scoops on working in the film industry! Annie’s work spans books such as Fake Love Letters, Forged Telegrams, and Prison Escape Maps, as well as work with Wes Anderson on The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch.

Make sure to get down to the event at 6pm when the doors open to have the chance to grab a drink and snack from our sponsors El Rayo Tequila and Lovecorn, then the talks will begin at 7.15pm.

The event will take place on Tuesday 3 February at EartH in Hackney. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and the talks will begin around 7pm. The full address is EartH, 11-17 Stoke Newington Rd, London N16 8BH. It’s a seated event, so get there early to ensure a seat and pick up a drink beforehand!

Please be aware that photography and filming may be taken at this event for marketing and promotional purposes. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed, please speak to our team on the day. If you have access requirements please make yourself known to a member of the EartH team on the night or email hello@nicertuesdays.com so we can arrange assistance.

Liang-Jung Chen is a London-based artist working across several mediums, such as performance art, sculpture and archiving (they’re behind the brilliant Hardware Archive). Rooted in an embodied approach to material culture, Liang-Jung builds nuanced situations from the artefacts and infrastructures that quietly underpin everyday life – from the politics of citizenship to site-responsive installation and live performance. After going viral with their UK indefinite leave to remain project, which was a thrilling piece of screen-recorded performance art within Microsoft Excel, Liang-Jung is here to elaborate on how that project came about whilst introducing their versatile practice.

Derek Ridgers is a photographer known for his books In the Eighties: Portraits from Another Time, Skinheads 1979 - 1984 and The London Youth Portraits. His photographs of club and youth culture are iconic, spanning several decades of punk, skinhead, goth and club music communities, as well organically depicting the political landscapes of the time. His new book Hello, I Love You is full-on PDA, celebrating love in London whilst offering reportage that is intimate and personal, and at February’s event he’ll be digging into just how the romantic body of work was made.

The Academy Award winning graphic designer Annie Atkins will be joining us for a Q&A, covering topics such as the importance of telling your own stories, what it’s like to work with Wes Anderson and the importance of self-initiated work. Her (Best Production Design award winning) work on The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs and The French Dispatch, which is filled with meticulous details and graphic design, has also informed Annie’s books such as Fake Love Letters, Forged Telegrams, and Prison Escape Maps, a book about graphic objects for film sets.
