Aries Moross, Brindha Kumar, Wendy Huynh: Tickets are now available for March’s Nicer Tuesdays!

For March’s event, three unique creatives will guide you through their personal style, approach and how they’ve gone about carving a space for themselves in their chosen industries.

Over here at It’s Nice That, we’re still bathing in the afterglow of February’s Nicer Tuesdays (and the premature Spring-like sun, of course). A sell-out event, the night saw Nicer Tuesdays 2023 in with a bang, and we were so happy to see so many of you enjoying some creative talks, a very special art market and a drink or two. Now, you’ll be pleased to hear that March looks set to be much of the same!

Taking to the stage will be the passionate storyteller Wendy Huynh, who will be walking us through the relaunch of her Arcades magazine, which tells creative tales from the suburbs. Following this will be Brindha Kumar, an illustrator whose otherworldly work has recently taken centre stage at Selfridges’ flagship store. Rounding off the event will be creative director, illustrator and designer Aries Moross. A creative powerhouse known for their bold, bright, pop-culture-infused designs, their talk will be an invaluable insight into carving a space for yourself in an often homogenised industry.

The event will take place on 7 March with doors opening at 6pm. As this is an 18+ event, please bring ID with you to the venue. If you are in need of disability access, please make yourself known to a member of the EartH team on the evening or email hello@nicertuesdays.com so we can arrange assistance. Carry on reading to find out more about our incredible panel of speakers.

Aries Moross

Rounding up March’s Nicer Tuesday’s will be a Q&A with Aries Moross, a creative whose vision knows no bounds. A designer, illustrator and creative director who now heads their own studio, Aries has been a recurring name on the It’s Nice That site since 2007, and their work has gone from strength to strength with every passing year. Now at the forefront of bold, pop-culture infused design, in 2022 Aries rebranded London’s famous Roundhouse venue, and in 2019 they worked alongside the Spice Girls to create the visuals to accompany their UK reunion tour. Alongside their design practice, Aries has always had much to say about the industry as a whole, in the past highlighting how homogenised the world of design can be, and how important it is to fight for a more accepting and inclusive industry. With such unique work and a perceptive outlook, it’s safe to say that Aries’ guest spot will be a truly enlightening event.

Wendy Huynh

It would perhaps be best to summarise Wendy Huynh as a storyteller; much of her practice seeks out stories that help others – and herself – embrace their culture. In 2021, she released a moving photo series that focused on women from the East and South East Asian (ESEA) community. At March’s Nicer Tuesdays, Wendy will be leading us through the relaunch of her similarly story-searching publication Arcades (which she runs alongside art director Jessica Pichet). A unique magazine, it explores life and culture on the outskirts of the cities, in the suburbs; previous editions of the artful magazine have focused on the outskirts of Paris, London and Berlin. Now, Arcades is returning to Paris, exploring the Palais neighbourhood in Créteil. Documented over the last two years, the edition sheds light on the inhabitants of Choux de Créteil, a series of 10 residential tower blocks designed by Gérand Grandval and now seen as a key example of pioneering 70s architecture. If you’re interested in how everyday documentary and architecture come together in a publication, you won’t want to miss this talk.

Brindha Kumar

Funnily enough, we first met Brindha Kumar here at It’s Nice That around this time last year, when we dove headfirst into her delicate, otherworldly illustrations for Porsche. A key takeaway from speaking to Brindha was that work for products or commerce has the potential to be beautiful, and considered not just as advertising, but as art too. And Brindha should know this all too well, having completed work for Starbucks, Test Brewery among many others. This coming Nicer Tuesdays you can expect much of the same brilliant content. As well as learning about Brindha's background and influences, the illustrator will be giving us a behind the scenes look at her recent collaboration for Selfridges, which saw her create artwork for three of the windows at their flagship London store. Want to see how you can take your illustration practice to new heights? Brindha is sure to have the answers.
