Pablo Rochat and Aurélia Durand: Tickets are now available for February’s Nicer Tuesdays Online

At 6pm GMT on Tuesday 22 February we'll be speaking with one of Instagram’s favourite creative comedians, Pablo Rochat, and acclaimed illustrator Aurélia Durand.

For our next online Nicer Tuesdays (we’re hoping to return to London’s Oval Space in March) we have in store two talks from two brilliant creatives: French illustrator Aurélia Durand and American director and artist Pablo Rochat. Joining us from Paris and Atlanta respectively, the pair will discuss recent and ongoing projects, their sources of inspiration, and the values they champion through their work. The talks will take place on 22 February and begin as normal at 6pm GMT.

We will kick things off with a 10-minute talk from Aurélia, who will be touching on the driving forces behind her practice, including the strong desire for more inclusive and diverse representation within illustration. She will also be discussing her varied creative output, from bestselling books and editorial pieces to puzzles and posters, as well as her commissioned work for big names such as Adidas, Adobe, Apple and The New York Times, among others. This will be followed by a Q&A with Pablo, hosted by our editor-in-chief Matt Alagiah, who will be delving into his plethora of projects (and what inspires them), his trademark humour, and his high profile collaborations with artists and brands such as Drake, Balenciaga and Nike, to name but a few.

Pablo Rochat

Referred to as “a prankster with a knack for social media originality”, Pablo’s popular brand of online comedy has earned him a loyal following and a great many collaborations with some of the world’s biggest brands and artists. His recent projects include directing both the music video for Drake’s song Knife Talk, and a classically tongue-in-cheek campaign for luxury fashion house Balenciaga, as well as creating a series of weird and wonderful illustrations and animations for The New York Times. During his Q&A, he will reveal where he finds inspiration for his endless stream of witty projects, why humour is so important to him, and what we can expect next.

Aurélia Durand

Aurélia grew up in Paris and the French island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Her childhood in Réunion exposed her to a multicultural society made up of citizens from Europe, Africa and Asia, so, naturally, she understood from an early age the importance of inclusion and diversity. After deciding to pursue illustration as a career, she chose to unite her creative practice with these values, championing equal representation and Afro culture. We’ll hear more about this at February’s Nicer Tuesdays, as well as the journey she has been on since then and what she has planned for 2022.
