It seems that the Cairo-based creative Ahmad Hammoud has lent his designs to every corner of the cultural landscape. From the world of cinema to advertising exhibitions, the designer is able to flex his vibrant, bi-lingual designs to suit the tone and mood of each event he puts his mind to. This approach has benefited from his pursuing of “a wider and more contemporary aesthetic of being an Arab designer” actively “navigating different design schools and styles”. Eschewing a strict approach, Ahmad instead favours “aimless sketching” and “organic development”.

After spending a few years working in agencies, Ahmad came to the conclusion that working freelance suited him much better. While still regularly collaborating with other designers, this independence has allowed the designer to explore new avenues and passions. Most recently, he has been creating posters for underground raves and parties in Egypt, a project he says he identifies as the “freest”. After viewing the posters, this freedom comes across with energetic shape work, diverse lettering and lightness at their core.
