Renovation of Selfridges’ flagship store gets the green light

British architect David Chipperfield’s plans to renovate Selfridges’ flagship London store on Oxford Street have just been approved by Westminster City Council. The project is set to include a new double-height entrance on Duke Street with alterations being made to the shopfronts and a huge redevelopment of the already expansive accessories space.

It was over a year ago since David was appointed for the redevelopment for the iconic neoclassical building. As part of a £300 million investment, the changes are set to create visual links to the listed east building with the Somerset, Wigmore, Orchard and Duke building to the north.
